The soccer fields at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center were filled with elementary school children in brightly-colored soccer uniforms on Saturday morning, October 30. Over 500 children were participating in the Shaun Clinton Round Robin Soccer Tournament, marking the season end of the recreational soccer program run by the OGRCC (Old Greenwich-Riverside Community Center). At the awards ceremony following the tournament, OGRCC President Kirk Schubert thanked Dr. Katie Vadasdi of ONS for the practice’s ongoing support for the sports programs run by the OGRCC. Dr. Vadasdi was presented with the Old Greenwich-Riverside Community Center (OGRCC) Award of Appreciation.
This is the 9th year ONS has supported the OGRCC recreational youth soccer league. Funds also go to support the spring and fall travel baseball program for children in Kindergarten through eighth grade. Funding provided by the orthopedic and neurosurgery practice goes to purchase uniforms which, at the end of each season, are collected along with shoes and equipment and sent to youth soccer teams in Barranquilla, Columbia.
OGRCC programs serve over 1800 children in the greater Old Greenwich-Riverside area. The OGRCC – Old Greenwich-Riverside Community Center is an organization whose goal is to promote a sense of community by providing recreational, athletic, educational and social programs for our members.
